Every single one's got a story to tell

So, I had my date with Kristin. (!!!) I was so nervous as I was leaving that I left my keys in the front door. It was locked, of course. I just forgot to take my keys out. /facepalm
Anyway, I left early so I would have time to shop at the grocery store, which was a wise decision, let me tell you. I must have gone over the whole store twice, heh. I ended up getting Kashi roasted vegetable crackers (not very good, as it turned out; I normally get the sesame honey ones but they didn't have that!) and some cheese and meat. Then I went out into the cold!
Oh, yeah, I should say: Our date was a picnic in the park. At the time that we planned it, the forecast for Sunday said high 50s and sunny. Great, we figured; a little chilly but we can handle that.
The high yesterday was 34. Thirty. fucking. four. degrees. It was still sunny, granted, and quite a gorgeous day except for the constant wind, but... not so nice for sitting out and having a picnic. I did bring extra blankets, though! So it wasn't that bad; we sat out and ate and talked and were awkward for two hours or so, and then decided, fuck this let's find somewhere warm.
Which is a good sign, y'know, when you're on a date with someone and think, I want to continue this date! when it's already been two hours. So, happy times.
We ended up finding this wonderful little place called The Nook, which is pretty much exactly what it says: a bar tucked in this small ... nook, ahaha. We didn't want to get much, having just eaten, so we got ques dip, she ordered a sweet tea, I got a vodka cranberry. Lucky me, they were having a special and the normally $7 drink was $3! Woo!
I got the drink; it tasted and looked like they had poured it mostly full of vodka and then realized, oh right there's supposed to be cranberry in this too. To say that it was strong would be an understatement. I have never had a drink this strong, even with the half-and-half drinks I mixed for myself all the time in Boston.
So I was tipsy, and they ended up playing "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston. Not only did they play it, they cranked up the system as long as it would have been in a night club. One of the waiters ran over to the bartender who had cranked it up and said, in the most flamboyant manner, "IT IS TOO SOON, IT'S WAY TOO SOON, IT'S JUST TOO SOON" which set Kristin and I to laughing and kind of set the tone for the next two hours: music and laughter.
We ended up getting up and putting in some money to the jukebox and playing INXS, Johnny Cash, and some other things... ended by Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust". Our server came over and gave us a fistbump for that :D
In addition to talking endlessly about music, we also showed one another pictures of our pets and stuff. And talked some about past relationships, but not very much.
By the time we were done, it was seven. Our date had started at two. So, yeah, we kind of hit it off, just a little.
The only problem I had was that her driving made me very nervous. I tend to have safety issues about driving--it's a very dangerous thing, damn it, and very high on the list of shit that kills people--so people who are nervous about their own driving tend to stir that up. But she said a big part of it was that it was night, so... maybe it will be better with driving in the light!
Overall she strikes me as someone who is cheerfully naïve. Not in a bad way, but in a way that makes me think she gets taken advantage of sometimes. She's very adorable, though; I want to have a date with her again.
I'm just not sure I want to have sex with her. We haven't really had any sexual conversations or anything so I just haven't flipped that switch in my brain when it comes to her. But we'll have those conversations sooner or later, I guess.
A rousing success, all in all.
